President's Connection

Hello KBC Friends,

Once again, June is here and it is time for this President to saddle up and get ready to say farewell. It has been a personal and professional honor to serve you as your chapter leader this year. I have learned so much and hope that I have left our chapter as awesome as it was given to me to lead from Dianna Spina, our Immediate Past President. I know our chapter is in wonderful hands as your new President, Joan Minton, takes over at the beginning of July as well as a new board. This chapter is strong and it is engaged. Thank you so much for your support.

I also want to thank the wonderful 2016 - 2017 Board of Directors. We have made some strong moves this year and they gave a lot of their time and talent to make KBC a community that supports our industry and provides the best education and networking opportunities. Thank you Board! We made it!

Last week, we got together to celebrate our chapter at the annual Bravo! event and it was one to remember. Special thanks to our friends at Horseshoe Southern Indiana for hosting the event and big thanks to our friends at C&H Audio Visual and Essential Details for making it a memorable environment.

I can tell you we gave out some wonderful awards to some very deserving folks who have given their time and talents to our chapter. I congratulate everyone who was nominated because you are all winners in my book.

Well my time is drawing to a close but I will always be here for the chapter and if I can ever help any of you, please let me know. Before I sign off from my last President's Corner, I just want to say a special thank you to our Executive Director, Brian Calvert. Brian, you are the glue that holds this chapter together. Please never ever ever run backwards again. And thank you for helping me so much during this year.

Namaste!

In Service,

Julie Kirkpatrick, 2016/2017 MPI KY Bluegrass Chapter President

****Don't forget, our chapter photographer, Chris Joyce, and his business associate, Stan Carton, have captured a lot of great shots from our events this year. Click Here and use access code kbcmpi to see pictures of your friends!

Chapter News

Are you studying for your CMP exam?

We've had some members express an interest in meeting with other KBC members who are currently studying for their CMP exam. We would love to help connect you!  If you are studying for your CMP and would like to connect with other chapter members who are also studying, please email Trish Scott at: tjobertscott@gmail.com and she will help get you connected!

Trish Scott awarded MPI Scholarship to participate in MPI Indy500 Experiential Event

Take a read of Trish's story below:

"I participated in MPI's Indy500 Experiential Event a couple of weekends ago.  As an independent planner it's something I would have never been able to justify spending the $1300 + to do on my own, so I applied for an MPI Foundation scholarship and was awarded it!  The only expense I had was the transportation there (which I drove) and the parking expense.  I'd really like to encourage our other members to look at the MPI global site for amazing education opportunities and apply for scholarships if their companies aren't able to pay for the associated costs."
